From Online To In-Store & Back to Online For Busy Habidashery

I have  had some knitted jersey fabric for at least 3 years now – purchased on a whim from a local very small business.  The store owner had opened up the lower half of her  warehouse, which housed her existing online business.  It was lovely to visit her store with the very back to basics racking with lots of colourful bolts of fabric around the edge of the  warehouse.   She had a full counter section with a long bench for measuring and cutting.  There were a few racks of the best spools of thread, both all-purpose and dedicated cotton.  There were also baskets full of odd shaped remnants .   Also available were stacks of patterns – many of the new modern range from British designers, and this was good to see them.   I was disheartened recently though when I had an email to say they were going back to online sales only as the store was a distraction from the very busy operation they had been handling so effectively.  But at least they still have the products and business going!
