Finishing your Knitting Projects Neatly and Effectively for a Wearable Finish

Once you have spent hours knitting up a project, it can sometimes be daunting to have to sew it together at the end.  With some helpful tips and ideas to make finishing up your projects easier and tidy, here’s hoping your next project will be a breeze!

First things first, ALWAYS knit up a tension square when you begin a project.  It saves so much time in the long run to ensure you are knitting at the same size as the pattern suggests.  Nothing hurts more than spending hours knitting up a pattern only to find that it is super tight or baggy and loose.

Measure the parts up against the measurements in the pattern, again making sure that everything is the same.  Fronts should measure the same as the back if needed etc.

Use a contrasting colour to roughly sew you pieces together before using matching yarn to finalise the sewing.  This way you can double check how the garment looks before completing the project.
